- ABDULLAH
- The Caliph’s
enlightened court welcomes all those who have acquitted themselves
with honour.
- ACHMED
THE UNHOLY
- Achmed (aka ’The Evil
Emir’) is the uncle of
Palarandes. He used a
combination of sorcery and ruthless betrayal to
steal the throne that rightfully belongs to his young nephew. Now he
rules with an iron fist and boasts that he has more slaves than other
men have hairs on their head.
- ALUCARD,
COUNT
- Some
say he hides a sinister secret. Other that he is merely a recluse who
likes spending a lot of time with his pet bats.
- ANGHARAD,
ELF QUEEN
- Her court is hidden deep in the forests of Albion and only
the
bravest can hope to find it. Those who do speak of magical gifts they
have received from the hand of the elf queen.
- ASSASSINS, GUILD OF MASTER
- There are two rules about the Guild of Master Assassins: 1. Don’t talk about the Guild of Master Assassins & 2. Don’t talk about the Guild of Master Assassins.
- BADOURA,
PRINCESS
- The
absent minded princess has an unfortunate habit of wandering from the
palace and being kidnapped or magically transported to some distant
part of the world.
- BERTRAND
CAMPION
- Bertrand is a scholar, a traveller, a
swordsman and, above all, a
gentleman. He will give his all for king and country and fight a duel
with any bounder who dares to insult a lady. He has fought for
justice in company with a brave band of fellow adventurers, and tales
of their deeds have spread far and wide. The one shame in his life is
that his younger brother Byron
has become an agent of J’Cabe.
Bertrand intends one day to bring Byron the Bushwhacker to justice
and so redeem the family honour.

THE GIANT
- Not a
hostile giant, but so clumsy, he’s liable to step on you without
even noticing.

CAMPION
- Younger
brother of Bertrand.
He has become a notorious bandit and henchman of
J’Cabe. He claims the evil warlock’s bonus scheme is simply too tempting to be ignored.

- Where the River
Styx bubbles up from the underworld to flow across Palladia, here
Chiron the ferryman plies his gloomy trade.
- DAN-FOO
THE DRAGON
- One
of the most ancient and intelligent of dragons, his obsession with
riddles may be his only weakness.

- A priestess of
Athena, Dione will receive anyone who genuinely seeks after wisdom.
- D’YANNA
- As a young
child D’Yanna was abandoned in the wild where she was adopted by a
lioness, who raised her as one of her own cubs. Eventually she was
discovered by Zorak, the
mysterious jungle lord, who taught her the
ways of the jungle spirits. Returning to her own people, she freed
them from the tyrannical rule of the priests of the Spider God. Now
she battles against this evil cult wherever it rears its ugly head.

- He has a score to settle with Widmark. Join the queue, your majesty.
- ELYSSA
- A beauteous maiden who helped Prince Palarandes when he crashed on the island of Taprobana. Since he left to recover his lost throne, she has been fretting anxiously and has decided to go after him to share and whatever dangers he faces.
- EREBUS
- The warhorse of
Morgant the Deathseeker,
Erebus was separated from his master in the
chaos of the Battle of Slaughterfield. Captured by horse traders, he
finally escaped, but found himself lost in a foreign land. Now he
seeks to be reunited with his master.
- FAFNIR
THE DRAGON
- Reputedly Fafnir guards a hoard of treasure, but who would
dare to
find out?
- FAYT
- No one knows the
true name of the man known as ‘Fayt’, but his calling cards are
poison and the dagger. It is said by some that he is a renegade on
the run from the Guild of Master Assassins. Others say he is on a
mission to atone for his evil past by aiding the weak and the
oppressed. Whatever the truth of the matter, it’s probably best not
to ask too many questions - and pray he isn’t after you!
- FORTY THIEVES
- A notorious band of criminals. Whenever one of them is hung, beheaded or thrown into a wolf pit, another is selected to take his place.
- GUILD OF MASTER ASSASSINS
- Look, it’s really a lot safer not to be caught talking about them.
- GUNNAR
- This stalwart
dwarf can be counted on to watch your back in a fight and is expert
at finding routes underground.
- GWENDOLYN,
QUEEN OF ALBION
- While her husband King
Uther travels across Albion
protecting
the
interests of his subjects, Queen Gwendolyn has turned her court at
Caerleon into a refuge for all who are fleeing injustice.
- HARUN,
SHEIK
- Has
reputedly built up the largest harem in the history of Khajistan.
Well, everybody needs a hobby.
- HELGA
THE SEERESS
- The
gods of Scandia have granted Helga the power to peer through the
mists of time and glimpse what lies in the future. As a result she is
often heard cackling to herself.
- HIGH ELF LORDS
- Venerable elves who rule over the scattered communities of elvenkind. Occasionally they meet to answer a particular danger threatening their peoples. They have a tendency to be rather secretive.
- HUGO
- Brother of King
Uther of Albion. He will commit any crime, break any oath,
sacrifice
any follower, in order to seize the throne of Albion for himself.
- IGIGWE
- Was kidnapped
as a child by the devotees of the Spider
God. Only after he had
escaped their bondage and undergone many adventures did Igigwe
discover that he was in fact the hereditary ruler of the mighty
Wazuri nation.
- J’CABE
- Spawn of the
devil, incarnate evil in human form, and a bit of a cad to boot, this
ambitious warlock operates from a number of secret lairs, twisting
the powers of magic to his own selfish ends. His henchmen roam from
land to land, carrying out his evil schemes. He learned the black arts from the necromancer H’Rusba and keeps the spirit of his dead mentor trapped inside a jar of volcanic vapours. When not plotting to destroy his enemies, he amuses himself by playing Triple Dare Runes with his captive imp Aknaxias. His favourite colour is an unsettling shade of puce. His favourite dish is roast vulture.
- JULIETTE,
SISTER
- After
years spent in prayer in a secluded convent, Juliette received a
vision which inspired her to take her gift of healing out into the
world.
- J’WELLA
- The
capricious sister of J’Cabe.
Though she has often been embroiled in
her brother’s nefarious schemes, they frequently fall out, and she
loves spreading gossip about him. “He was always a troubled child,
forever torturing beetles and turning his playmates into penguins.”
- KISMET
- A nomadic trader
who deals in everything from jewelled brooches to candied locusts.
- KWENG-SU MONKS
- A mystical order based in an eastern monastery. It is against their beliefs to use weapons. It is not against their beliefs to deliver an ’okh-wa’ (precision blow) to someone’s ’yong-tu’ (energy point/nerve centre), resulting in ’fung-fen-di’ (instant paralysis).
- LAO
TZIN
- An oriental
sage who once declared that the universe and everything in it is
contained in a single teardrop of the eternal. Nice, eh?
- LIONEL,
DUKE
- An
enthusiastic sportsman and stalwart supporter of King Uther.
- MADOC
- An elf priest
who was sent on a secret mission by the High Elf Lords. They will not
reveal the nature of the task and his whereabouts are unknown.
- MARIEL
- Three years ago
the High Elf Lords sent Mariel’s brother Madoc
on a secret mission
from which he never returned. Mariel set out to find him, armed with
a falchion and a magical bracelet. She has dispelled the evil
darkness that haunted the dwarf mines of Scandia, escaped the
clutches of Count Alucard,
and turned down a proposal of marriage
from Duke Lionel. But
still she continues to search for the
whereabouts of her beloved brother.
- MASTER ASSASSINS, GUILD OF
- I already told you not to talk about these guys. Do you need an elephant to fall on you before you take the hint?
- MEDEA
- A vengeful
witch, ready to put a hex on anyone who crosses her.
- MEHMET
BEY
- The sultan
is happy to entertain anyone who comes to him with a tale of lost
treasure. Except Widmark the Viking.
- MELQUIST
- A wizard who
has allied himself with J’Cabe
in order to learn the warlock’s
sorcerous secrets. Melquist has ambitions of his own which he keeps
hidden from his wicked master.
- MERLIN
- The legendary
wizard lives in lonely seclusion in his hidden cave. On rare
occasions he takes a pupil whom he trains in the ways of magic.
- MIDAS
- So many stories
are told of his wealth, you would think he owned all the gold in the
world.
- MORGANT
- Morgant (aka ‘The Deathseeker’)is the
sole survivor of the Blood Ceremony of the god Dhagu, in which two
bands of warriors engage in ritual battle to the death. Since then
his main interests have been war and death. This led him to abandon
his home in the Granite Hills and become a professional mercenary. He
has since survived the Battle of Slaughterfield, the massacre at
Butcher’s Peak and the carnage at Fort Doom. He doesn’t have many
friends.
- NESTOR
- A bowman second
only to the great Odysseus.
- NIMUE
- A capricious
sorceress who stole her magic spells from Merlin.
- OBERON
- King of the
goblin folk of Albion. He has little patience with humans unless they
are prepared to flatter him.
- OKIMBI
- A small,
green-skinned people who dwell in the deepest jungles of Nubia. Shy
of strangers, they tend to greet visitors with a volley of poison
darts from their blowpipes.
- OLAF
STERNFIST
- A
legendary hero and slayer of giants, Olaf now lives in retirement,
receiving as guests only those who have proven themselves worthy of
his friendship.
- ORPHEUS
- A famous
minstrel whose beautiful singing once gained him safe passage through
the Underworld.
- PALARANDES
- When
Prince Palarandes’ kingdom was unlawfully usurped by his evil uncle,
Achmed the Unholy,
the young prince was forced to escape on a flying
carpet. Crashing in a storm upon the island of Taprobana, he was
nursed back to health by the maiden Elyssa. Now he travels in search of allies to join him in his battle against the evil Achmed,
encountering genies, giants and monsters along the way. He has sworn
that when he recovers his kingdom, he will make Elyssa his queen.
- PEGASUS
- The winged
horse dwells in the mountain tops and roams freely across the skies.
- PERI
THE PIXIE
- Once
the messenger of King Oberon,
Peri left him to seek her own path in
the world of humans. She can be flighty and mischievous, but is
ferociously loyal to anyone she takes as a friend.
- PRAXILES
- Has developed
his own unique philosophy, much of which seems to revolve around the
consumption of beans.
- RADOLPHO
- While
performing songs and ballads in Lyonesse, Radolpho stumbled upon a
plot by King Uther’s
wicked brother, Hugo, to usurp
the crown of
Albion. Fleeing from Hugo’s murderous henchmen, Radolpho was helped
on his way by the sorceress Nimue,
and by Angharad,
the queen of the
northern elves, both of whom were quite taken with the handsome young
troubadour. Arriving in Caerleon after a perilous journey, he warned
King Uther of the plot and so saved the kingdom.
- ROBIN
- A trusty
forester who knows the woodland paths like the back of his hand.
- SHERIFF
OF GOTTENHAM
- A
corrupt, self-seeking rotter.
- SIGMUND
THE SLY
- A
former business partner of Widmark,
and just about as trustworthy.
- SPIDER
GOD
- This
monstrous creature is worshipped by thousands of obsequious followers
who have spread its cult across Nubia. Legend has it that the Spider
God emerged from a crack in the earth and can only be slain by a hero
chosen by destiny.
- SULEIMAN
- A notorious
torturer, Suleiman’s services are much in demand by tyrants and
despots all across Khajistan.
- TAHAKI
- An amiable
fellow who enjoys nothing more than a heavy meal followed by a spot
of wrestling.
- TENGO
BAP
- The abbot of
a secluded monastery, he teaches those who come to him to listen for
the “voice that speaks within.”
- UTHER,
KING OF ALBION
- Uther proved that he was rightfully High King of Albion
when
he drew
the ancient sword Adamant from its sheath. Now he tries to bring
justice and peace to a divided land.
- VALTAX
- Years ago the
young Valtax stumbled upon Merlin’s
Cave and his life changed
forever. Under the tutelage of the legendary mage, he developed an
astonishing gift for magic. When his training was complete, Valtax
set out to rid the world of those who use dark sorcery to serve their
own selfish ends. He has fought two magical duels with the wizard
Melquist, each of which
lasted three days and left both men near
death. It is only a matter of time before they engage in a third
confrontation from which only one of them can emerge alive.
- WAZURI
- The mightiest
warriors in all of Nubia. A Wazuri youth must undergo the Three
Trials of Courage before receiving his warrior’s spear.
- WIDMARK
- Okay, so he
“borrowed” King Einar’s funeral ship to go looking for the lost treasure of Berizond. It was just a misunderstanding. And so what if
the crown of Albion disappeared while he was in town? Haven’t you
ever heard of coincidence? And as for the golden armour of that evil
emir, Achmed the Unholy,
Widmark found it in the back of a wagon and
pawned it before he even knew it was stolen. Look, he’s just a guy
trying to make a living. Honest!
- WIZARDS OF LIGHT
- An ancient order dedicated to protecting the world from those who would misuse the powers of magic to serve their own selfish ends. They have established three sanctuaries where magical artifacts can be kept out of the wrong hands.
- YASMINA
THE THIEF
- Orphaned at an early age, Yasmina learned to live by her
wits on
the streets. Few can match her skills and none can count the number
of prisons she has escaped from.
- ZORAK
- The identity of
the Jungle Lord has been assumed by a succession of men through the
centuries. Each has gained the gift of communicating with the jungle
spirits and become the defender of the ancient ways of Nubia.
Information on deities such as Zeus and Odin, or monsters such as the Minotaur, can be found in books of mythology or website equivalents.
